North Western Province Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara will recruit 300 graduates and National Diploma Holders to teach English and Tamil languages, aesthetic studies, sports and commerce in remote schools in the Puttalam District from January 2014. This is to solve the existing shortage of teachers in government schools in the Puttalam District.
Hereafter, all newly recruited teachers will be appointed to remote schools in the Puttalam District as there is a dearth of 1,500 subject teachers in schools in the Puttalam District. However, there are enough subject teachers in the Kurunegala District schools at present.
Hence, the Chief Minister hopes to equalize the distribution of human resources in Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts, said Public Relations Officer of the NWP Chandana Pushpakumara.
