POEM – Don’t write me off

  • 6 January 2020

Don’t write me off

There the tree stood

Of some sturdy wood

Full of flowers and fruit

Firmly on the ground its root

From far and wide

To rest under its shade

Came men of all breed

Of all colour and creed

Many a bird did benefit Never did they fail to visit

To enjoy the juicy ones;

Merriment all around in tons.

Drought –struck, the died

Deserted all but none cried.

With a hearty laugh

It had left an epitaph:

“Don’t write me off

As a spent-force

I must run my full course

Useful I am still

Your hearth needs me for fuel

That too is not my death final

My usefulness dose swell

For I resurrect as coal.”
